Join us Wednesday, February 6th at 6:30 PM for a five-course meal with six wine pairings at Park Place Café and Restaurant in Merchantville, NJ.
We will be welcoming Camino Pardo, owner of Frontaura and Nexus wineries in the respective D.O.’s of Toro and Ribero del Duero. Camino is compelling, smart, genuine, inspiring and uncompromising when it counts. If a vintage is bad, she will not make wine. The star of the show is Tempranillo grown in two different appellations. Camino makes estate Tinta Fina in Ribero del Duero and estate Tinto de Toro, in Toro. These clones of Tempranillo will be tasted back to back and side to side so that you can experience for yourself the impact that soil type and climate have had on this varietal. You will discern the difference through evolution, the grape’s will to adapt, survive and thrive. The only white wine, a Verdejo, is impressive. Production is miniscule as it is picked from 90 year old, un-grafted vines. Camino will walk us through all of this as the evening unfolds.
Chef/owner, Philip Manganaro, is a pleasure and a dream to collaborate with. He has tasted through all six wines and is so talented that the only direction he was given was use your imagination, make what you think is right. A special facet of tonight’s menu comes from foraged ingredients. Phil says, “Foraging and wild foods, for us, isn’t a buzzword or a passing trend. It’s a way of life, it’s a connection to the land and nature. It’s a course study in the way seasons change, fade and recreate. Foraging for us is dirty hands in the middle of the woods, it’s a crate full of bark, a mile back, an hour from home, in the midst of a busy day, a busy life. Foraging and wild food is a part of us, and we strive to share it with you.”
Co-owner, Francesca Venti, who anticipates your needs before you think them, will be handling the front of the house and spinning records. Josh Dombrowski, an essential member of the Park Place team, will be in attendance to ensure seamless service.
